Background

Born deep in the upper reaches of Everkeep’s medical sector, Magnus had always been destined to continue the Drake family’s role in Alexandria’s progress. As the son of an engineer and an entrepreneur, Magnus’ path to Research and Development was paved early on, and with the high interest he had in the field, his work came as second nature.

Dawntrail (7.0) Spoilers:

Still early in his career, Magnus’ fascination with technology was placed on hold as he'd been assigned a project to further develop mechanical sentries designed specifically for harvesting during battle. While the purpose of this project was obscured from many within the department, an intensifying feeling of skepticism inspired Magnus to seek answers for himself in the Origenics facility. Though he couldn't determine the full scope of what lay ahead, he'd gleaned enough to completely disengage from Research and Development before making what would become a permanent expedition into the Source.

While Tuliyollal would introduce the young Hyune to the ways of this world, he'd find sanctuary in Eorzea where he now spends his days learning the land and peddling his otherworldly machinery to those curious enough to indulge in it.
